Testimony - Jesus Flores
Jesus Flores(Father of Patient): Hello, my name is Jesus Erubey Flores. I am from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, I am 50 years old, and approximately 27 years ago I met a very good friend, Dr. Roberto Canales. I say good friend because that is the only way a man from that level can be considered, like a friend.
He saved my son's life "Jesus" when he was left for dead in Ciudad Juarez. He was the only one that said that things were different. It was April 4th of 1991 when my Son was born in a Hospital in Ciudad Juarez near Casas Grandes Highway. He was born weighing around 1 kg and a couple of pounds. In reality we never figured out the reason why everything went bad because he was doing so well, but in those days something happened, no body was able to tell us in Ciudad Juarez what was the real problem and when he was born, he was left for dead because he had no kidneys. The Doctor brought Pediatricians, and other Specialists to figure out what was the problem but no, they didn't really found a solution. The only thing that he told us was "That is everything we can do, you can leave the Hospital, your son is left for dead, and that is it" I was so desperate and I asked him again "what can we do, if we can go to another Hospital, or other Doctor " and he said "no" .
There was nothing to do but to wait until my son Jesus died. All my dreams and hopes were destroyed at that moment, I didn't know where to run. All of a sudden I received a call from the sister of my best friend Alvaro congratulating me because I just had a baby because my friend told her that my son was already born and that everything went well , I told her "I am sorry but we are in a very complicated situation, we don't know what to do, my son was left to die", and she told me "wait a second, I know someone, let me make a phone call" . She talked to Doctor Canales, he was afortunately her kid's pediatrician. She then returned the call and she told me that she was able to speak with Dr. Canales and that I needed to take my son to Providence Hospital. At that moment we brought my son to El Paso Texas.
After seeing the specialists at the Hospital in Juarez that seemed very prepared and professional. I see a man with big beard with his messy hair and I said to myself oh my God! but that man was something else.. He has saved a lot of lives, and some way or another he saved mine. My son is 27 years old now. He made incredible things that day, I explained to him everything the other Doctors told me, and he only listened. 62 days in Intensive Care and 11 or 12 days in recovery. It was amazing watching him work, he did what had to be done, he was the specialist, he knew what to do. He was telling me "Sign these documents, we don't have any other option, just sign". Every 30 minutes to an hour I had to sign a new document, because he needed my permission to do his stuff, and here normally, most of the things need permission from the parents.
This kind of people have a mission in life and that is save lives.
Jesus Flores Jr.(Patient): I am a living proof of how wonderful he is. I see him as an angel. I believe God has a plan for his angels and he was the angel that was sent to touch me and heal me. God willing in December I will finish my Medical degree and in the future I would like to be a Pediatric Oncologist like him.
Jesus Flores(Father of Patient): One night I saw him at 4:00 am and I saw him go outside to drink a coffee, and I ask him "Doctor, at what time do you sleep?" and he said "look Jesus, life is too short to spend it sleeping" ever since that day I try to sleep less, just like him. That was 27 years a go and I still remember.
I have my son next to me, and that is a blessing I will thank him all my life.
